Marwell Penguin Cove

Marwell Wildlife’s major overhaul comprised upgrading the technical facilities and improvements to the visitor experience. This consisted of new filtration systems to significantly improve the water quality for the Humboldt Penguins whilst reducing waste water generation, plus extending animal welfare facilities to create new quarantine and isolation areas and enlarged food storage and prep facilities.
New level visitor viewing areas, with themed rock walls, provides an enhanced experience within the Penguins habitat. Thematically continued to the underwater viewing area and remodelled as a rocky cavern with better light control, new interpretation and embedded artefacts is provided. Subtle changes to the visitor circulation, including shallower graded pathways, improves accessibility and encourages guests to explore the whole of the site including a new parallel playground.
